Meet Aiyana, native American for eternal blossom.  A Native American girl who enjoys being in the light, not directly though, and does not like being kept in the dark...so no secrets from Aiyana.  She has heart and is quite exotic.  Keep her moist and lightly fed; she will shower you with love year-round.  Don't go over the top though or she will turn yellow, keep her green and she will be the envy of your home with her dazzling pink, white, red, or purple flowers.  She comes from a very large family so she is social but toxic, she is not food and should not be eaten but rather appreciated for her power to remove harmful chemicals creating fresher air for your room.

Who needs it?  If you live in an area that experiences winter temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit you will want to purchase winter shipping insurance.  For only $10.00, your plant will be shipped with a heat pack and bubble wrap for insulation to ensure it arrives to you free of any damage from the cold or we will refund your money back! 

You will receive a notification of shipping and will need to ensure that the plant is welcomed into your home the date of arrival.  If you will be traveling, please contact us to reschedule the shipment date at least 24 hours prior to shipping.  You do not want to leave your lovely new friend out in the cold. The heat pack that is provided with the insurance is good for 72 hours from the time shipped so we are confident that your plant will arrive safe and warm.

If you are purchasing multiple plants, you may need to purchase insurance for each plant if the plants are being shipped separately.  Feel free to reach out to us at support@plantasticdirect.com and we will confirm the amount required for your order.

Refund Policy for all Plants

If your plant arrives damaged, simply take a photo and send it to support@plantasticdirect.com within 3 days after the delivery date.

We will make a determination and will refund the amount purchased if you have a valid concern.  We will notify you via email, within 48 hours after we have received your email with the photos supporting your claim and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, your refund will be applied to your original payment method. The refund will ALWAYS be back to the card used for the original purchase, no exceptions. 

The refund amount will post in accordance with your cards policy, usually within 3 to 5 business days. 

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you received the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and correct as necessary. All claims must be made within 3 days after the delivery date.
Exchanges
We do not do exchanges on plants.
Replacements
We do not replace plants.  We will issue a refund if appropriate. (see above), and you may place another order if desired.

Environment

Habitat: Indoors / Moderate to High Humidity

Remember, Anthuriums are tropical plants. As such, you need to recreate their natural habitat in your home. They need a humid and moist environment. While most Anthuriums can tolerate some level of dryness, they thrive in environments where the humidity level is not less than 60%. If your indoor humidity levels are less than ideal, take measures to increase the humidity. Additionally, the plants prefer warm temperatures ranging between (75-90°F). You should also situate the plant where it has access to at least 6 hours of bright and indirect sunlight for the plant to thrive.

Maximum Size: 12" - 18"

Anthuriums have the potential to grow up to 18 inches in indoor environments. However, they can only reach such sizes when supplied with ample indirect sunlight.

Space / Planter Size: 6"

Anthuriums do not spread out too much. Most indoor flamingo flowers will only spread out about 6"at maturity. This size lends itself to indoor spaces as you do not have to dedicate a lot of room to the flower.

History

The plant originates in regions between northwestern Ecuador and southwestern Colombia. It was first introduced to the rest of the world by Samuel Samon, a businessman who brought the anthurium plant to Hawaii. In the late 1930s, people learned how to grow the plant from seeds, and since then, a lot of effort has gone into selectively breeding anthuriums of different colors and shapes.

Plant Care

The best care you can give an Anthurium is to keep the soil moist but not wet. Avoid over-watering the plant, as its roots are prone to rotting. The flower will thrive when provided with fertilizers with high phosphorous content during the growing season.

Water: Moderate Watering

Use your finger to check whether the top 1-2" of soil are moist. If the soil is dry, water the plant until you see water draining out of the drainage holes. Note that during winter, when the plants aren’t growing, it does not need plenty of water.

Sun: Moderate

Find a spot where the plant is under bright indirect sunlight. Indirect sunlight is perfect as it allows the plant to thrive without burning the leaves. Low light will cause slow growth and dull the colors of the leaves and flowers. Additionally, inadequate sunlight will cause the plant to produce unimpressive, dull, and small flowers. On the other hand, indirect sunlight can burn the leaves.

Taking care of an Anthurium can be time-consuming. However, you can optimize the care regimen by finding the perfect spot for the plant to thrive. Situate the plant where it has access to bright, indirect natural light and access to water. Such conditions allow the plant, its roots, and flowers to thrive.
