The Braided Money Tree or Guiana Chestnut is a fantastic addition to the indoor plant collection of anyone interested in the ancient art of Feng Shui, as it is believed to create positive energy in the home. It also features attractive bright green, five-lobed leaves, yellow/white flowers, and that famously braided trunk (typically 3 or more stems) that makes it visually appealing.

Who needs it?  If you live in an area that experiences winter temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit you will want to purchase winter shipping insurance.  For only $10.00, your plant will be shipped with a heat pack and bubble wrap for insulation to ensure it arrives to you free of any damage from the cold or we will refund your money back! 

You will receive a notification of shipping and will need to ensure that the plant is welcomed into your home the date of arrival.  If you will be traveling, please contact us to reschedule the shipment date at least 24 hours prior to shipping.  You do not want to leave your lovely new friend out in the cold. The heat pack that is provided with the insurance is good for 72 hours from the time shipped so we are confident that your plant will arrive safe and warm.

If you are purchasing multiple plants, you may need to purchase insurance for each plant if the plants are being shipped separately.  Feel free to reach out to us at support@plantasticdirect.com and we will confirm the amount required for your order.

Refund Policy for all Plants

If your plant arrives damaged, simply take a photo and send it to support@plantasticdirect.com within 3 days after the delivery date.

We will make a determination and will refund the amount purchased if you have a valid concern.  We will notify you via email, within 48 hours after we have received your email with the photos supporting your claim and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, your refund will be applied to your original payment method. The refund will ALWAYS be back to the card used for the original purchase, no exceptions. 

The refund amount will post in accordance with your cards policy, usually within 3 to 5 business days. 

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you received the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and correct as necessary. All claims must be made within 3 days after the delivery date.
Exchanges
We do not do exchanges on plants.
Replacements
We do not replace plants.  We will issue a refund if appropriate. (see above), and you may place another order if desired.

Environment

Habitat: 55 - 75°F

As one would expect given the environment that they enjoy in the wild this is a houseplant that will thrive in an environment relatively high in humidity. Generally, they enjoy a temperature that varies from 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit but is happy enough at the 55-degree mark.

Maximum Size: 6'

In its wild environment, the Money Tree can reach heights of up to 60 feet, but indoors they will rarely exceed 6 feet. Stick to the temperature guidelines and make sure it enjoys indirect sunlight (avoid cold or excessively warm draughts) and this no-nonsense plant will provide a lovely addition to any home.

Space / Planter Size: Large

A bigger planter is recommended due to the fact that the Braided Money Tree can reach 6 feet in height so it needs room for its root system to flourish.

History

The popularity of the Braided Money Tree can be traced back to a Taiwanese entrepreneur and horticulturist who perfected the art and science of braiding the Money Tree. The braiding remains during the growth cycles of the tree, and it soon began to attract international attention. It can now be found for sale as saplings at plant nurseries across the globe.

Plant Care

The Braided Money Tree has a lot to offer the homeowner. It combines a hardy nature, attractive and unusual leaves, and flowers and that Feng Shui connection which makes it even more interesting. Give it the right humidity and levels of sunlight and it will grow at a rate of around 24 inches a year - and provide you with a low-maintenance plant that has an enormous amount to offer.

Water: Moderate

Owners are advised to place the planter on top of a pebble-filled tray that is half filled with water. This will increase the humidity around the plant. But owners should take care not to let the roots of the plant become immersed in the tray water - and avoid excessive overwatering. More regular watering should take place during spring and summer - and ensure that the planter is well-drained.

Sun: Bright, Indirect

The Braided Money Tree enjoys direct sunlight outdoors, but as an indoor plant, it should be placed in areas of medium to bright indirect sunlight. It's also worth noting that the Braided Money Tree will be happy enough under fluorescent light should your living space not have an appropriate window.

Care Level: Easy

This is a plant that loves moisture - and that is one of its attractions for homeowners - it is incredibly difficult to kill through overwatering. Regular misting is also recommended - or you can place it near a humidifier.
