The Peperomia Prostrata "String of Turtles" is a miniature species of tiny button-like leaves along a thin tangle of vine-like stems. The leaf pattern of dark green with light green silvery veins is reminiscent of turtle shells. It is perfect if you have limited space, and the long cascading tendrils make this plant ideal for hanging over a bookshelf or cabinet.

Who needs it?  If you live in an area that experiences winter temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit you will want to purchase winter shipping insurance.  For only $10.00, your plant will be shipped with a heat pack and bubble wrap for insulation to ensure it arrives to you free of any damage from the cold or we will refund your money back! 

You will receive a notification of shipping and will need to ensure that the plant is welcomed into your home the date of arrival.  If you will be traveling, please contact us to reschedule the shipment date at least 24 hours prior to shipping.  You do not want to leave your lovely new friend out in the cold. The heat pack that is provided with the insurance is good for 72 hours from the time shipped so we are confident that your plant will arrive safe and warm.

If you are purchasing multiple plants, you may need to purchase insurance for each plant if the plants are being shipped separately.  Feel free to reach out to us at support@plantasticdirect.com and we will confirm the amount required for your order.

Refund Policy for all Plants

If your plant arrives damaged, simply take a photo and send it to support@plantasticdirect.com within 3 days after the delivery date.

We will make a determination and will refund the amount purchased if you have a valid concern.  We will notify you via email, within 48 hours after we have received your email with the photos supporting your claim and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, your refund will be applied to your original payment method. The refund will ALWAYS be back to the card used for the original purchase, no exceptions. 

The refund amount will post in accordance with your cards policy, usually within 3 to 5 business days. 

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you received the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and correct as necessary. All claims must be made within 3 days after the delivery date.
Exchanges
We do not do exchanges on plants.
Replacements
We do not replace plants.  We will issue a refund if appropriate. (see above), and you may place another order if desired.

Environment

Habitat: 68 - 75°F

The Peperomia Prostrata "String of Turtles" plant prefers a cooler and more humid environment. Be sure to avoid cool temperatures and use a mister or a humidifier if the air is dry.

Maximum Size: 2'

This plant grows down in long thin strands and is a small plant when it is fully grown.

Space / Planter Size: Medium

String of Turtles prefers to be a bit root bound so start off with a smaller size planter. If you are repotting, increase the pot size by no more than 2". This will ensure that the roots remain tightly together. An oversized planter will require more time for the soil to dry which will impeded the health of the plant.

History

Peperomia Prostrata "String of Turtles" comes from the rain forests of South America. It is considered an epiphyte, originally growing in between rocks or in the trunks of jungle hardwood trees. It can also be found in other tropical climates such as Mexico, the Caribbean. Over the years, it has become popular in different parts due to its cupped leaves and cascading nature.

Plant Care

String of Turtles is a semi-succulent and requires a little more care than a traditional succulent. It loves bright, indirect light but make most of it reaches the top of the plant so that it can continuously product new growth. Use soil made up of mostly organic material and make sure the soil drains well.

Water: Moderate

This plant can be negatively affected by over-watering. Wait to water until the first 2" of soil is dry. The succulent leaves do not need constant watering as it is a tropical plant designed for heat and low rainfall. Avoid keeping the roots soggy because this can cause the roots to rot.

Sun: Bright Indirect

It is important to provide this plant with bright indirect light. Leaving the String of Turtles in direct sunlight for too long will over dry it and harm it leaves.

Care Level: Moderate

Although the Peperomia Prostrata "String of Turtles" is similar to a succulent, it will require a bit more care than a traditional succulent. This is a resilient plant and will be fairly easy to keep healthy and thrive by providing it with the correct soil and the right balance of water and light.
