Schefflera Amate, also known as Umbrella Tree or Amate, is a species of tropical plant native to the rain forests of Central and South America. It is a popular houseplant and is prized for its attractive foliage and ease of care.

Who needs it?  If you live in an area that experiences winter temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit you will want to purchase winter shipping insurance.  For only $10.00, your plant will be shipped with a heat pack and bubble wrap for insulation to ensure it arrives to you free of any damage from the cold or we will refund your money back! 

You will receive a notification of shipping and will need to ensure that the plant is welcomed into your home the date of arrival.  If you will be traveling, please contact us to reschedule the shipment date at least 24 hours prior to shipping.  You do not want to leave your lovely new friend out in the cold. The heat pack that is provided with the insurance is good for 72 hours from the time shipped so we are confident that your plant will arrive safe and warm.

If you are purchasing multiple plants, you may need to purchase insurance for each plant if the plants are being shipped separately.  Feel free to reach out to us at support@plantasticdirect.com and we will confirm the amount required for your order.

Refund Policy for all Plants

If your plant arrives damaged, simply take a photo and send it to support@plantasticdirect.com within 3 days after the delivery date.

We will make a determination and will refund the amount purchased if you have a valid concern.  We will notify you via email, within 48 hours after we have received your email with the photos supporting your claim and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, your refund will be applied to your original payment method. The refund will ALWAYS be back to the card used for the original purchase, no exceptions. 

The refund amount will post in accordance with your cards policy, usually within 3 to 5 business days. 

Damages and Issues
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you received the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and correct as necessary. All claims must be made within 3 days after the delivery date.
Exchanges
We do not do exchanges on plants.
Replacements
We do not replace plants.  We will issue a refund if appropriate. (see above), and you may place another order if desired.

Environment

Habitat: High Humidity / 65 - 90°F

 This tropical plant prefers average to warm temperatures between 65-80°F. Avoid exposing it to drafts or temperature extremes.

Schefflera amate is a plant that can grow to be quite large, both indoors and outdoors. The space needed for this plant will depend on how big you allow it to grow and whether you plan to keep it in a pot or plant it in the ground.

Space / Planter Size: Small / Medium

When kept as an indoor plant, Schefflera amate can grow up to 10-15 feet in height. If you plan to grow it outdoors, ensure you have enough space for its potential size. In its natural habitat, it can reach heights of 30-40 feet with a spread of 15-25 feet.

The Schefflera amate features glossy, deep green leaves that are palmately compound, meaning they consist of multiple leaflets that radiate from a central point like the ribs of an umbrella. The leaves typically have seven to nine leaflets, although this can vary.

Water: Moderate

 It's important to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water the plant thoroughly and allow the top inch or so of soil to dry out before watering again. Over-watering can lead to root rot, while under-watering can cause the leaves to droop and the plant to suffer.

Sun: Bright, Indirect Sunlight

 Schefflera amate prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some shade, but insufficient light may result in leggy growth and smaller leaves. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

Care Level: Easy

The care level for Schefflera amate (Schefflera actinophylla) is generally considered to be moderate. While it is not the most demanding plant to care for, it does require attention to certain aspects of its care to ensure its health and growth.
